here be damsels

{I went to a state park today to play around in the cool water; dozens of damselflies — and the odd dragonfly, looking fairly massive in comparison — were flitting around near the shallows and outnumbering even the noisy tourists. It appears that they belonged to the fancily-named species of “Ebony Jewelwing,” though it’s the wings that are black and the rest of them that’s jewel-green … but that’s insect names for you.}
